“I was scared. Really scared,” Tifosi breathe a huge sigh of relief as Charles Leclerc claims Austrian GP win
As we are almost eleven races into the 2022 F1 World Championship season, it is quite clear that the two prominent title rivals for this year are Ferrari and Red Bull. But time and again, it feels like Ferrari always loses out on strategy even when they have the perfect car and two incredibly fast racers fighting for them. In today’s race in Spielberg, Austria, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz put up top-notch performances, ensuring that Ferrari gets a 1-2 finish today. But unfortunately, the team strategy did not play out in their favour and Carlos Sainz had to retire from the race where he was guaranteed a P2 finish.
Frantic fans who were rooting for Ferrari took to Twitter to pour out their disappointment as Carlos Sainz’s car caught fire and he exited the tracks to make his way into the pits. Right at that moment, Charles Leclerc also began complaining about an issue with his Ferrari F1-75. With reigning World Champion Max Verstappen charging behind him, Charles Leclerc had to defend against the Dutchman with all his might to make sure he secures a victory in Red Bull’s backyard.
In the end, the first five spots get snatched by Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Esteban Ocon. Mick Schumacher gets a superb sixth place after finishing in the points for the first time in Silverstone last week. And Norris, Magnussen, Ricciardo, and Alonso finish off the top 10 of the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix.

The Tifosi take to Twitter as Carlos Sainz gets an upsetting DNF, but some celebrate Charles Leclerc’s victory
Ultimately, Charles Leclerc pulled through and got his first-ever victory in an F1 race where he didn’t start from pole position. But nonetheless, the Twitterati can hardly shake off the disappointment at Carlos’ missed podium opportunity when the Spaniard had raced brilliantly, only to retire at the end of the Grand Prix.
Some of the Tifosis were afraid Charles’ race might meet the same fate as Carlos’ after the Monegasque started complaining of some issue with the car, but fortunately, Max Verstappen could not catch up with Charles’ Ferrari as only a few laps were left. Here is what F1 Twitter has to say about the race:

Indeed, the fans were not happy with how Ferrari handled Carlos Sainz’s race even when they could have brought him into the pits and resolved the issue with his car and still send him out in the third place as the Spaniard was 35 seconds ahead of the car behind him. But for now, the Scuderia will focus on making their startegies better for the races to come as they know their Championship battle with Red Bull is about to intensify.
