Carlos Sainz has been struggling with the Ferrari in recent times. Nevertheless, he finally came in a position to help the team after attaining a P3 during qualifying. Ferrari was in a bit of distress after Charles Leclerc crashed his car at Turn 8 during Free Practice 2. This although wasn’t the end for the Monegasque. Carlos on the other hand delivered.

The 2023 F1 Miami GP qualifying session was somewhat completely unpredictable as we look into the events that took place. Whilst Sergio Perez put his Red Bull on pole, P2 and P3 were not the drivers that everyone was expecting. Fernando Alonso finished P2 and Carlos Sainz finished P3 which is what the Maranello based team was expecting from him in the first place.

Whilst his teammate qualified P7, there have been other concerns regarding the team’s performance and future plans. The team was going to start introducing upgrades for Miami. However, it seems like Carlos Sainz is coping well meanwhile Charles Leclerc has been in a bit of a dilemma. After qualifying third, the Spaniard had a lot to say regarding his performance.

Post qualifying, here is what he had to say. “It was a very tricky quali for all. It’s very tricky to find the right feeling with the tyres on this tarmac. It was tricky on the tyres, and very easy to make mistakes. It was getting windier and windier especially with our car that is tricky to drive,” he said. “P3 was where we were talking to be, but I think today could have be better. There was plenty to come. I was doing a good sector in Q3 until the red flag came out,” he continued.

Ferrari has been a bit on the back foot this season while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have been on a charge. With their new upgrade programme being put in place, the SF-23 might also be on par with the Red Bulls by the end of the year. It will be interesting to see where Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finish during Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix.
