After days of trepidation and endless waiting, the Tifosis have finally gotten their answer to who would be taking up the Herculean task of leading Ferrari now that Mattia Binotto has stepped down–and it is a quite familiar face indeed. Confirming all the fans’ theories and guesses, the Maranello outfit has finally announced that they will be putting their faith in former Alfa Romeo Team Principal Frederic Vasseur to take the reigns at Ferrari and lead the team back to their winning ways.
It has been a while since chaos broke out in the Formula 1 community following the 2022 season finale in Abu Dhabi as Mattia Binotto confirmed he will part ways with Ferrari after serving in the team for more than a decade. The Italian will be officially giving up his responsibilities as the Scuderia’s Team Principal on December 31, and most of the reports pointed towards Ferrari not announcing Binotto’s successor until 2023. But in a surprisingly early notification, it is now declared that Frederic Vasseur has signed up for the role.
Ferrari is known all around the world as Formula 1’s oldest and most successful racing team, but unfortunately it hasbeena long wait of about 14 years since Ferrari last enjoyed a World Championship win in 2008 and the last time a Scuderia racer got the WDC title was in 2007. While they had started the recently-concluded 2022 season with hopes of ending their losing streak, the team could not keep up with Red Bull in the long run, and had to settle for the second place once again. But with Frederic Vasseur leading them, the Tifosis are hopeful for a Championship win this time.
