“It’s really promising for the future”: Pierre Gasly keeps his hopes up after debut test run with Alpine in Abu Dhabi
Pierre Gasly has had a long-drawn association with AlphaTauri ever since he entered Formula 1 with Toro Rosso, which is the previous version of the Italian outfit. In 2019, he did get promoted to the second seat at Red Bull to partner with Max Verstappen, but in the middle of the season, he was demoted because of a lack of prospective results. As an AlphaTauri racer, Gasly has gotten his debut Grand Prix victory in Imola in 2020, and he has contributed a lot towards the team’s advancement.
But towards the end of 2022, it was announced that Pierre Gasly has taken up the offer of moving to Alpine. He moved to the seat which was left vacant following Fernando Alonso exiting the French team in pursuit of retiring driver Sebastian Vettel’s seat at Aston Martin. Now, the season is over and Alpine managed to achieve their goal of ending their Championship campaign on a high with fourth place in the Constructors’ Standings, ahead of McLaren.
Pierre Gasly geared up for his first test with his new team, which has now gotten the title of being ‘the best of the rest’ as it snatched the fourth position in the scoring table after the top 3 teams. The French driver did some laps in the Alpine racecar and was quite happy with the prospects. He went on to say that his experience in the car had been even better than what he was hoping for.
