The Saudi Arabian GP in the 2024 season will soon be underway. The Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez showcased great performance during the sessions. Verstappen will start from the pole followed by Charles Leclerc occupying the front row. Hence, the race is crucial for Ferrari to seal their lead over Mercedes in the constructors championship. Amidst the race, Lando Norris had almost caused an incident to sabotage his race.

Amidst the cars lining up for the race start in Formula 1, Lando Norris suffered a disappointing bout with Yuki Tsunoda‘s challenger. Norris was going out on track ahead of the drivers’ lining up on the grid. However, Tsunoda’s VCARB 01 had an unsafe release and the two nearly missed out on crashing into one another.

The stewards immediately took notice of the incident between the two drivers in the pit lane which is under investigation. Norris shared on team radio how he almost crashed into the driver even before the start of the race. However, the collision was prevented and the two drivers continued heading towards the grid before the race. Additionally, an investigation will be conducted into the incident and respective penalties will be awarded to the teams.

Lando Norris and McLaren could outperform Mercedes

The 2024 season has showcased great performance from McLaren during the season opener in Bahrain. Hence, an early competition between Woking and Brackley could be sported by the fans down the season. Norris had also scored more points than Lewis Hamilton during the first race of the season.

As a result, McLaren is hopeful of competing against Mercedes down the season. Brackley also has sustained multiple issues down the initial two races. Previously, Hamilton’s seat came loose down the season and hence caused him problems down the race. Hence, a great drive from McLaren throughout the season could tip the balance in Woking’s favor.

Even Oscar Piastri has been performing well alongside Norris during the initial two races of the season. If the team continues to score well throughout and minimize mistakes, they could potentially challenge Mercedes and Ferrari. Woking had showcased great challenges to the Red Bulls at the forefront and hence this season would likely provide the same trajectory for the team.
