Lewis Hamilton recently renewed his contract with Mercedes, which ensures he stays on track for at least two more years. While it is certain that Hamilton’s name will go down in history books as one of the best in the sport, it is not enough for the Briton. The seven-time champion still believes Mercedes can out-pace the dominant Red Bull. Recently, Lando Norris, George Russell, and Alex Albon joked about his title chase, jokingly calling him ‘greedy’.

Having a discussion on being satisfied with their achievements, George Russell stated that no one is ever satisfied. He said that Hamilton, having won seven titles, is still not satisfied and is very much hungry for another. Albon and Norris agreed to the argument, with Norris joking and saying, as reported by The Express, “Yeah, that’s just greedy.”

Hamilton’s eighth world championship slid out of his hands in Abu Dhabi in 2021. The controversial end to that finale must also be a key motivating factor for the Brit to continue hunting down his record-breaking title.

Meanwhile, his arch-rival Max Verstappen is on the cusp of winning his third consecutive championship in Qatar this weekend. The Dutchman requires three points out of the weekend to be declared world champion.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were engaged in one of the most cut-throat rivalries of F1 in 2021. After the season’s controversial end, not much of the rivalry remains. While Verstappen has established a dominant presence as the victor of races, Hamilton has struggled to get on the podium. As Verstappen is now close to wrapping up the 2023 season as well, Hamilton has nothing but respect for his nemesis.

Hamilton said that Verstappen is doing an excellent job with Red Bull. He said that he, Fernando Alonso, and Verstappen are very competitive and would do anything to achieve their goals. With just six races this season, Hamilton is pushing hard for a P2 in the WDC standings. He is currently 30 points behind the current second-place Sergio Perez.

“What do you want to hear? All I can say is: ‘Keep doing what you are doing’. Max is doing an extraordinary job at Red Bull at the moment… Fernando, Max, and I are generally competitive and will go furthest to achieve our goals,” said Hamilton.
