Lando Norris takes an indirect dig at Max Verstappen, demands a ‘hefty penalty’ amid recent Red Bull allegations

In recent weeks, it has come as a surprise to see fans eagerly wait for a FIA document to be released. This singular document could be make or break and create havoc amongst all of F1. Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton are amongst many other drivers are vocal about the punishments that teams should get if they breach the cost cap. This whole drama started sometime around the eve of the Singapore GP weekend.
The FIA announced that it would be releasing the details confirming if any team has breached the €114 million budget that they have to make do with. Although there have been allegations pointing out to Red Bull having exceeded the budget cap by a substantial amount. This rumour has grown so big that the FIA who were supposed to release the documents regarding the same were forced to reevaluate and postponed the announcement to Monday right after the Japanese GP weekend gets over.
Lando Norris joined Lewis Hamilton in speaking out about the whole situation. Many believe that Max Verstappen and Red Bull have exceeded the budget cap last season and that statement hasn’t quite adjusted well with those in the paddock. While Red Bull denies any breach, there are some who think that their denial is baloney. Norris went on to talk about the whole situation where he reiterated that exceedingly the cap for a year could lead to years of success.

He further went on to elaborate on the situation when asked if a breach like this deserves a penalty. “Of course, I think because teams are trying to be as efficient as possible with every single thing that they do, any small amount over is, in any part of Formula One, a big advantage,” he said.
“Considering there has been such a rule applied to make things more comparable for everyone, give all teams a better chance at fighting, it’s just an unfair stat within the performance of Formula One. There should be a pretty hefty penalty for whoever does cross the line,” he continued.
“The thing is, it doesn’t just benefit you for one single season,”Norris added. “If it helps you in that first one to get going, it’s always kind of a knock on effect the next few years,” he concluded.
In the end, the whole saga around Red Bull and Max Verstappen is pure speculation and nothing has been proved yet. The FIA will finally release the cost cap compliance certificates on Monday deeming if a team has stayed within the regulations and hasn’t exceeded the budget. It will all boil down to the day after the Japanese GP where Max could possibly be crowned world champion. There are some interesting times ahead for us.
