It started as a few hushed up speculations amongst the fans following Shakira‘s appearance at the Miami GP to support Lewis Hamilton. It grew into a massive story by the time the Colombian singer was spotted enjoying a boat ride with the Mercedes racer and some other friends at her current hometown in Miami following the race. Since then, Formula 1 town has not been able to keep calm about the idea of the recently-single pop sensation dating one of the most eligible bachelors in the world of motorsports.
While all of the rumors about Shakira and Lewis were still based on their only interaction in Miami, the final bang came on the day of the Spanish GP as Shakira made her second F1 race appearance in less than a month. Barcelona was previously where the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer resided with her now-estranged partner Gerard Pique. Since their split, Shakira moved to Miami, but she was in Spain for leaving her children with Gerard when she decided to make a beeline for the Grand Prix and meet Lewis. And in the subsequent days, Shakira was once again spotted going out with Lewis, almost confirming what the F1 fans had been going crazy over for days.
And all of these public outings have now added up to the biggest gossip that will surely engage the F1 town for the next few weeks until the Canadian GP arrives. PEOPLE have confirmed from a source close to both Lewis Hamilton and Shakira that the two are almost on the verge of becoming a full-blown couple. Speaking of the seven-time F1 World Champion’s blossoming romance with the Latina diva, the source said, “They’re spending time together and in the ‘getting to know you’ stage. It’s fun and flirty.”

The coming together of two huge stars as Shakira and Lewis Hamilton is major news, but both the parties’ representatives had no comment on offer on it when they were approached by PEOPLE. But the internet sleuths have put two and two together from all the photos available of the couple’s outings, and it does seem quite convincing that romance is on the cards for them. Lewis’ gesture of putting his hand around Shakira’s waist at their dinner outing with friends Daniel Caesar, Fai Khadra and Mustafa did not go unnoticed by the fans.
If Lewis and Shakira’s relationship goes official, it would be the biggest news on the Mercedes racer’s personal life since his public break-up with ‘Pussycat Dolls’ artist Nicole Scherzinger. No matter the happenings in Lewis’ love life, it can be undoubtedly claimed that his racing results are flourishing with his second spot finish at the recently-held Spanish GP. Added to this, his teammate George Russell got the third spot behind him, making it Mercedes’ first double podium in 2023, thus giving the German manufacturers a glimmer of hope for the current season.
