Lewis Hamilton has made headlines recently. The Mercedes driver will reportedly leave the team to join Scuderia Ferrari for 2025. The seven-time world champion is one of the biggest names in F1. Subsequently, Hamilton’s shock switch will be a massive transfer in the sport’s history. Now, reports have emerged that the 39-year-old could join Ferrari as early as this season.

According to Gazzetta Sport, Lewis Hamilton will be joining Maranello in 2025. However, the 39-year-old could have the provision to replace Carlos Sainz in the upcoming F1 season. This would come as a major blow to Mercedes who would lose their star driver to Ferrari weeks before the season commences.

The seven-time world champion would pair Charles Leclerc to make a formidable driver lineup. This would leave Sainz without a seat while Mercedes would need to find a replacement for Hamilton. Certainly, this shocking news could shake the entire grid if the Briton decided to race for Maranello in 2024, ditching Mercedes entirely.

Lewis Hamilton has failed to win a single race in the past two seasons. The 39-year-old has been forced down the order due to Mercedes’ struggles. On the other hand, Max Verstappen has gone on to achieve record-breaking success. Hamilton has voiced his frustrations in the past year. It is clear that Hamilton aims to win an unprecedented eighth F1 world title. The Briton might be losing faith in Mercedes’ car development over the winter break. Subsequently, Lewis Hamilton could have been convinced by Ferrari that he could get a championship-winning car at Maranello. Certainly, the 39-year-old would be looking to end his career on a high with his final couple of seasons at Ferrari.
