Logan Sargeant‘s journey in Formula 1 has been one filled with lots of trepidation and huge surprises. The American did not, until the very last moment, if he would be able to take part in his first-ever Formula 1 season as a regular driver in 2023. For the Williams newbie in town, the challenge was to get enough super points by finishing at least in the sixth spot in the F2 Championship to be eligible for the Super License that would take him to F1. And ultimately, he did crack that, and was suddenly faced with the fact that he would be racing in the king class of motorsports–with no guidance at all.

When Sargeant got his racing contract with Williams handed to him, it was already season break for the Formula 1 drivers. Now, the problem was that he could not contact most of them as they were on their holidays, unwinding after a long and tiring Championship campaign. But Logan Sargeant knew that he needed the advice from the seasoned F1 racers to get used to the tricks of the trade before his debut in 2023. And for this, two of the F1 recruits helped him massively.

Speaking at a recent interview, the first American to join any F1 squad since 2015, said that it was former Williams driver George Russell and his future Williams teammate Alex Albon, who guided him and shared their experience of Formula 1 with him. Sargeant has served as the Williams reserve driver before, so he already knows the racers who drove for the historic team. Thus, it is no surprise that he turned to Russell and Albon for some help regarding his F1 season debut, as the two had had their first races in 2019 together.
