Dr Helmut Marko stated the plans that Max Verstappen had for his private jet
Dr Helmut Marko and Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen is currently the most talented driver on the Formula 1 grid. it is clear that the Dutchman loves racing as he is seen behind a wheel even when he is on track and also off track. When he is not behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, he is probably behind the wheel of a simulator where he loves playing racing games. After Verstappen’s unfortunate incident at the Le Mans virtual 24 hour race, it is surprising to see what he has done with his plane.
The two-time world champion was preparing extensively for the 24 hour virtual Le Mans race. Having completed with Team Redline alongside many sim racing legends, it seemed like victory was his. However, that did not seem to be the case as he got disconnected from the server, whilst leading the race by about a minute. What followed was a treacherous rant about the organisers of the race and also the game.
Due to the Red Bull Racing driver lashing out in such a way, Dr Helmut Marko was asked whether this would affect Max Verstappen’s charge for his third world title. On the contrary, the Red Bull team advisor was confident that Max Verstappen needs sim racing as it helps him a lot. It also acts as a distraction from his surroundings. He further revealed that the Dutchman has made some insane upgrades on his private jet.

Max Verstappen had his private jet converted to add a sim racing setup

In an interview with Germany’s Sport1, here is what Dr Helmut Marko had to say. “He had his private plane converted so he can also simulate in the air in the future. But that’s just a good thing, because Max needs that kind of distraction. In addition, it has not had any negative impact on its first two world titles,” he concluded.
Everyone in the paddock knew that Max Verstappen was a hardcore sim racer, but they did not expect it to have come to this extent. It is clear that Max is a truly passionate racer, and can only think about Racing 24/7. It will be interesting to see how the two-time world champion performs in the upcoming season. With Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc right there to give him a run for his money.
