During the 2023 F1 season, it was straight-up Red Bull domination. Max Verstappen won 19 races out of the possible 22 races and took the championship home quite comfortably. In addition to making history, Verstappen excelled in challenging circumstances. For example, one can look at the 2023 Dutch GP, despite the rain-affected Zandvoort race, he was able to put on a flawless performance.

His teammate, Sergio Perez was second on the charts yet nowhere close to Max Verstappen in terms of points. For the F1 world, hearing the Dutch anthem became a routine thing last year. For some, it was boring as there wasn’t any competition as such on the track.

The 26-year-old compared his 2023 triumph to his first-ever championship and claimed that last year was his best one yet.

I know you're not going to agree with me. But in my eyes, last year is the best. People only saw one-sided domination but you don't measure the degree of involvement of each member in the team to achieve this incredible result.
Max Verstappen said in an interview with L’Equipe

Max Verstappen won his first-ever world championship in 2021 by breaking Lewis Hamilton’s long winning streak. The British driver was close to claiming his eighth title, but the Dutchman managed to break it in Abu Dhabi and start his own. Verstappen genuinely feels 2023 has been his best-ever season in F1.

Giancarlo Fisichella deems Max Verstappen’s potential move away from Red Bull a ‘stupid move’

The Christian Horner controversy has taken the internet by storm. What looked like the end of the tunnel when the case was concluded, has now turned into an unending Red Bull saga. Horner was cleared of inappropriate and controlling behavior accusations quite recently. But the leaked evidence reached Jos Verstappen and he didn’t shy away from publicly thrashing the team principal.

Since then, there has been a power struggle and internal political chaos at Red Bull. Max Verstappen’s father, Jos Verstappen, had a meeting with Toto Wolff( Mercedes team principal) which fueled the speculations of Verstappen possibly moving to Mercedes.

According to the ex-Ferrari driver, Giancarlo Fisichella, this potential move would be a foolish decision on the part of the reigning world champion.

We don’t know if Max will join Mercedes, next year or in the future. In the place where he is now with the best team and the best car, it’s stupid move to another team.
Giancarlo Fisichella said in an interview with OCB Scores

A move to Mercedes could lead to an increase in salary, but as of this moment, the German outfit is in no position to offer Verstappen a winning car. Moreover, as long as Red Bull is providing potent weaponry, Verstappen, in all likelihood, will stay put.
