The Formula 1 world has been in a turmoil lately over the racist comments of Helmut Marko. As the Chief Advisor of Red Bull, the octagenarian wields enormous power when it comes to the F1 circuit, and thus he never shies away from picking a conflict with anyone or expressing his remarks freely. But this time, Marko has received a lot of criticism for his comments on Sergio Perez–and even though he did apologize, some of the paddock personnel, including Lewis Hamilton, are not okay with it.

Whenever it comes to Red Bull, of course, their golden boy Max Verstappen cannot be kept out of the equation. Even though Helmut Marko has coached him and helped him win the two World Championships in the past two years, Max’s opinions seemed quite dismissive regarding the Austrian’s comments on Checo. Ahead of the Singapore GP, he was asked to give his take on Marko blasting Sergio’s underperformance due to his ethnicity, and the Dutch driver chose to restrict his words on the incident.

Speaking to SkySports F1, Max Verstappen said about Helmut Marko, “I don’t think I’m the right person to educate Helmut. I think he quickly realised what he said and he apologised for it.” The 25-year-old’s teammate Checo, who has been in the centre of the entire incident, claimed he has clarified the problem with Marko as the two had talked in person where apologies were made.

Max Verstappen has been vocal about bringing some radical changes in the F1 schedule. He said the 24-race schedule is too stressful for the drivers, and urged the FIA to consider cutting down a few Grands Prix in the future seasons. But Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of the Formula One Management, said he would not take Max’s advise on how the F1 calendar should be said. The Italian claimed some decisions regarding F1 should better not involve the drivers even though he welcomed Max’s opinions.

On the other hand, Max Verstappen’s dominance in the field has been a treat for his fans. The Dutch extended his back-to-back race-winning streak to 10 with a resounding victory at the Italian GP. Now, he will be seen trying to take on the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore, a track that Nico Rosberg has claimed to be especially taxing due to the heat. It remains to be seen if Max will continue his winning ways, or if F1 will finally see someone else on the topmost step of the podium other than the Dutch star.
