“It’s always very important to be honest with each other”: Max Verstappen explains how he keeps Red Bull on their toes

In the recent years, Red Bull has seen a massive development in their performance as the Austrian team seems to have hit the jackpot with their recruits Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez. The two of them have challenged each other and helped each other give a good competition to their rivals at Mercedes and Ferrari, so that Red Bull come on top of the Constructors’ Championship standings. But it requires a lot more than just two talented teammates to make sure that the team wins the Formula 1 title in a given year.
According to Max Verstappen, the one thing that has helped all the members at Red Bull stay on the same page regarding every smallest decision is that they have clear communication amongst them. The Dutchman said it is very essential that the team personnel have an “honest conversation” about things. He also said he likes to keep his team on toes so that they can improve upon their existing performance and always strive to do even better.
It is no news that Max Verstappen is someone who pushes himself and everyone around him to win even when he is already at the top because he is a perfectionist. The two-time World Champion has said that his 2022 season, althought it might appear to the others as a spotless season with stellar performances from him, could be even better and that there is room for improvement.

Formula 1 is a hugely competitive sport where all the teams are constantly at each other’s neck, and in order to survive in this quest for the World Championship, Red Bull have had to make sure they are on point with every development. Regarding this, Max Verstappen said, “We always have a very honest conversation about it. Sometimes, you disagree on things, and that’s fine. That’s how it works in life, but it’s always very important to be honest with each other, and really say when something is not correct.”
Then, Max Verstappen was asked to give comments on his 2022 campaign, and his response was an unexpected one. While everyone has said he did an amazing job last season by winning his second World Championship in a row, the Dutchman feels there is room for improvement. He said, “At the end of the day, it’s all about who designs the best car, who comes up with the more clever ideas.“
The upcoming 2023 F1 Championship will bring a new challenge to Max Verstappen as he will be targeting a title hat-trick next year. With the solid support of his teammate Sergio Perez and the strategies of the great tactical team of Red Bull to back him up, it remains to be seen how they manage to get to the top of the Standings one more time in 2023.
