Max Verstappen has been one of the most talented drivers to race in Formula 1. Ever since he won his first ever race with Red Bull Racing at the age of 18, critics and fans alike knew that he was destined for greater things. It was a start of an impressive career in the pinnacle of motorsport for the young gun. Dutch F1 pundit Michael Bleekemolen was a bit sketchy about how the situation is turning out presently.
After a solid 2020 F1 season, Max Verstappen achieved his first championship victory at Abu Dhabi in 2021 where he beat Lewis Hamilton in the last race of the season after an unexpected safety car landed him in the perfect position to attack. Max was clearly not happy with just one as he went on to dominate the 2022 F1 season with 15 wins under his belt throughout the year.
When it comes to the 2023 F1 season, Max Verstappen has Sergio Perez and possibly Fernando Alonso as his title rivals. With Ferrari and Mercedes being nowhere near the picture, the road seems to be clear for the Dutchman. He already has three wins this season in 5 races. While Dutch fans are enjoying every bit, Dutch pundit Michael Bleekemolen has revealed the harsh truth.

Michael Bleekemolen is confident that Max Verstappen’s dominance could be more boring than Hamilton’s

In an interview with RacingNews365.com, here is what he had to say. “As a chauvinistic Dutchman, this is of course absolutely fantastic. But we must also be careful that this does not become a display even worse than Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher showed. Those other teams and guys really need to start trying their best now,” he said. “There is, of course, Alonso,” Bleekemolen said. “Unbelievable that he goes so fast. The rest, I don’t know yet who the direct competitors are, aren’t really getting there yet,” he continued.
“That’s not good for the sport. Good for Max and for Red Bull, but I hope he doesn’t get the same reputation as his predecessors, of, ‘Oh yeah, he always wins anyway,” he said. When it comes to Mercedes’s performance, here is what the Dutchman said. “I think that everything will remain about the same in the coming races. They won’t get much closer to the Red Bull and you also have Max: he is already a few tenths faster than anyone else.”
While Max Verstappen’s dominance so far has led to him increasing his fan following, the amount of haters have also increased. During the Miami GP weekend, a lot of people booed the Dutchman while he was on the grid. While Max states that he is unaffected, it shows how fast he has been on the track in the last few years. The same thing used to happen with Sebastian Vettel during his Red Bull days and now he seems to have passed on the baton.
