Pierre Gasly confident about his plan for the next 18 months in AlphaTauri, urges fans to “look at the bigger picture”
Pierre Gasly
French Formula 1 racer Pierre Gasly has had a whirlwind of a career in the sport so far after he was juggled from Red Bull to their sister team AlphaTauri in the middle of the 2019 season, because the executives of the Milton-Keynnes-based team were not impressed with his performance. But now, the 26-year-old is headed for some stability as he will be spending the next year and a half racing for Alpha Tauri. According to the reports, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has ruled out the chances of Gasly shifting to Alpine or any other team for the next season.
Pierre Gasly shifted from AlphaTauri to Red Bull to take Daniel Ricciardo’s seat, when the Australian exited the team at the end of the 2018 season. But Gasly’s short term at Red Bull was peppered with flaws and disappointing results, so he was demoted to his previous team, with hopes of being called into Red Bull once again in future. But as far as the team setup is concerned, Red Bull is quite content with Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen’s pair-up, and will not be changing that anytime soon.
Thus, the Frenchman is left with his Alpha Tauri seat and there are no suggestions that he is attempting to leave the Red Bull setup now. While Gasly’s fans were enraged to find that Red Bull is stalling the driver’s future in F1 by keeping him caged in AlphaTauri, Pierre Gasly has assured them that the next year and a half will be good for his ambitions.
Pierre Gasly believes extended stay at AlphaTauri will be good for his F1 career
According to Pierre Gasly, the fact that his seat at AlphaTauri is confirmed for the next 18 months is a relief as he does not have to worry over his future in F1. He said, “I think it’s the fact of having clarity over your future for any athletes is a positive thing because it’s just one thing that is out of your mind. We have got a strategy and a plan over the [next] 18 months and, as I say, everything we are doing I kind of look at in a bigger picture.”
Although Alpha Tauri’s resources are not enough when compared to many of the other midfield teams like McLaren and Alpine, Pierre Gasly is hopeful that the Italian outfit will be able to better themselves over the next few seasons. As of now, AlphaTauri has got the eighth spot in the Championship standings, with 27 points to its name.
