Red Bull decide against issuing statement in regards to Nelson Pique’s racial slur against Lewis Hamilton

Last year, after the costly Silverstone Grand Prix collision where Lewis Hamilton was given a 10-second-time penalty after his Mercedes came in contact with his then-Championship rival Max Verstappen‘s Red Bull, the incident was dissected and talked about to a great degree amongst the different F1 forums. But Lewis Hamilton had soared to victory despite the penalty and Charles Leclerc came second, followed by Valtteri Bottas who was in P3.

Going into this year’s British Grand Prix, an interview where some horrific racial slurs were uttered by three-time F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet Sr, has been unearthed. The Brazilian had allegedly used abusive words to address Lewis Hamilton while talking about the Silverstone collision in a conversation with Motorsports.com last year.

While most of the F1 community has come forward in support of Lewis and have even publicly bashed Nelson Piquet for his abusive words, some of the Formula 1 teams have also given their statements. F1 Official Twitter and Mercedes Twitter were the first ones to release their words on the incident, and other teams like Ferrari, Aston Martin, etc. have also given their take on this matter. And then correspondents reached out to Red Bull, where Max Verstappen, who is currently dating Nelson Piquet’s daughter Kelly Piquet, is a recruit. But Red Bull refused to give a statement as of now and their silence has not been received kindly in the F1 community.

Red Bull chooses to go silent over Nelson Piquet’s interview where he uses slurs against Lewis Hamilton

While all of the motorsports community have risen up to speak out against Nelson Piquet Sr for his insensitive and abusive slurs used against Lewis Hamilton, one of the most celebrated and most successful F1 racers of all time, Red Bull chose to stay silent about the entire incident.

F1 journalist Chris Medland tweeted out to his followers on Twitter that he had personally approached Red Bull for their comments on the Nelson-Piquet-Lewis-Hamilton matter that has sent quakes all over the F1 World, but the British team chose silence. Medland’s tweet said, “Have been at Red Bull this morning. But the team says it won’t be issuing a statement on Piquet’s comments.”

Now, people could not help bringing up the fact that Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is linked to Nelson Piquet as he is currently dating the Brazilian racer’s daughter Kelly. If Red Bull raises their voice against the incident, it would essentially look like they are abandoning their main driver Verstappen.
