‘There’s a bigger discussion here’: Christian Horner raises concerns about what the FIA might come up with next
Christian Horner
The summer break is almost over, and the F1 2022 season resumes soon with the Belgian Grand Prix. Red Bull Racing and Christian Horner are looking forward to the Belgian Grand Prix, which is set to be held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. He is all set to start the next part of the season on a positive note alongside reigning world champion Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez. However, Horner stated that he is thinking about next year already, and it is something that is constantly at the back of his mind.
Starting with the Belgian Grand Prix, the teams will be forced to follow some new rules and regulations that were put in place to deal with porpoising. Christian Horner says that he doesn’t mind these new regulations, but he is worried about the new regulations that will be put in place for 2023.
“I think the bigger discussion is about a potential regulation change for next year.”, Horner stated in an interview with Formula.com. He also said, “That could be a major redesign of the car if the size of the floor were raised that they’re talking about, and other aspects. I think that’s a far bigger discussion.”

FIA finds a middle ground with all the teams
Earlier this month, the FIA announced the new rules that were put in place to counter the porpoising issue that the teams were suffering from since the start of the season. The new rules state that the cars must have their heights raised by 15 millimetres.
Many of the teams opposed to the changes as they had already found other ways to address the porpoising issues. They claimed that enforcing an equal measure across all the teams to address the porpoising issue would be unfair to the teams that found ways to address the issue without compromising on their performance. The FIA also published the new regulations that will be enforced from the 2026 season.
