The internet has been cracking down on FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem because of his recent comments that did not sit well with the majority of the fans. The Emirati has been subject to several controversies because of the very public falling out that he had with the owners of Formula 1‘s commercial rights. He had declared that he felt the $20 billion valuation of the F1 franchise is too “inflated” as his nation’s sovereign wealth fund was after buying the rights and the deal did not go through.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem was elected as the head of F1’s rule-making body in 2021, and he has always been at the epicentre of drama because of his post. Now, he has been issued a letter from the F1 legal department which outlines why it was wrong of him, as a representative of the FIA, to speak in matters of business related to F1.

As of now, Formula 1 fans all around the world are starved of some good racing action because the season break is going on. Frederic Vasseur feels that the free time is the reason behind the Ben Sulayem story gaining such traction. He said, “I’m really convinced that as soon as we will put the cars on track, this will disappear a little bit off the screen. For sure we’ll have discussions but, as always, I hope that we’ll be able to stay focused on the sporting side.”

In other news, Ferrari is now gearing up for the big reveal of their 2023 car on 14th February. Haas has already had their curtain-raiser and Red Bull is going to be the next team to give everyone a sneak peek of their model. Last year, Ferrari did surprise all the fans with their F1-75, and this year, they have vowed to outperform themselves. Now, it only remains to be seen if the Scuderia can finally end their 15-year-long dry run with a Championship win this time in 2023.
