Toto Wolff claims FIA’s conflict of interest allegation has caused a ‘lot of damage’

Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff, and his wife, Susie Wolff were the talk of the town in F1 quite recently. The FIA imposed a conflict of interest allegation on them and Toto has claimed that it has caused a lot of damage.
In December, the FIA dropped a bombshell on Toto, Susie, and, Mercedes by revealing that they have opened a conflict of interest investigation into the Wolffs. However, to everyone’s surprise, it was dropped within two days.
While the whole fiasco is now behind them, Toto Wolff while talking about it with La Gazzetta dello Sport recently (H/T: Silverarrows.net )
If you type Susie Wolff on the internet now, that investigation is the first thing that comes up. That can’t be reversed. It has caused a lot of damage. The investigation was opened and closed again within two days, and that is not what you expect in the world of Formula 1.
Looking at the reaction of the Austrian, it is quite clear that he is not happy with how the FIA damaged his and his wife’s reputation. Back then, the governing body of the pinnacle of motor racing faced immense heat from the fans regarding this.
Toto Wolff has had his fair share of tussles with the FIA
While Toto Wolff has come out with a strong response to FIA’s conflict of interest allegation, it is not the first time that they have come head to head. None of the die-hard F1 fans can forget what happened during the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP.
Then, some extremely controversial calls were made by then, FIA race director, Michael Masi. A lot was made about it by the pundits and It ultimately led to Lewis Hamilton losing the world championship against Max Verstappen. Wolff was extremely disappointed with the result and thus, was at the FIA’s throats for pretty much throughout the winter break.

Toto Wolff has never shied away from sharing his feelings. He has always led the charge of the Brackley-based Mercedes Formula 1 team from the front and will keep on doing things his way, as long as he believes what he does is the right thing to do.
