The 2024 Formula 1 season will begin shortly with the first race just under a month. Hence, the grid prepares for the challenges in the upcoming season alongside multiple teams looking forward to revealing their chassis. Hence, amidst this, George Russell and Lando Norris created a hilarious video to reveal the news of the British GP‘s extension at Silverstone.

The British duo created a ‘video call’ reel and shared it on Formula 1’s official Instagram page. In the video, Russell is talking to Lando Norris on Video call and the former is present at Silverstone circuit. The 25-year-old turned around his camera to showcase the Silverstone’s race-start and pit-lane area to reveal the news of the extension.

As soon as Russell panned his camera to the other side, the race-start area had a giant mediums wheel rolling about. Norris joked over this sighting and asked the 25-year-old if the tire had fallen out from his car. Additionally, the McLaren driver cheered on hearing the news of the British GP’s extension at the Silverstone circuit as both the drivers are British and love to race on their home soil.

George Russell would be the lead driver after Lewis Hamilton’s exit from the team

Lewis Hamilton‘s shocking switch to Ferrari from 2025 had caught everyone off-guard. Hence, as the team prepares for the upcoming season, Toto Wolff claimed that Russell would lead the team after the seven-time world champion’s departure. Additionally, the Austrian team principal had also applauded and praised the 25-year-old’s performance in recent seasons.

Wolff explained that he couldn’t ask for a better lead driver in Hamilton’s absence and hence was satisfied with the replacement. Apart from this, the team principal has a plethora of options to replace the former driver as multiple drivers’ contracts will end soon. Hence, the 52-year-old will not rush into this decision as he still has an entire season to finalize on the driver.

Mercedes had also talked about potentially acquiring Max Verstappen in their arsenal if the Dutchman were to have issues within Red Bull. However, these were just speculations as only time will tell about the happenings after the 2024 season. Regardless, Brackley prepares for the chassis reveal on 14th February.
