“Won’t miss it!”: Lewis Hamilton has found the perfect words to bid adieu to his first winless season in Formula 1

To say that the 2022 Formula 1 Championship proved to be a tumultuous time for seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton would be an understatement. The Briton has returned to the season opener at Bahrain with newfound zeal for race wins after narrowly missing out on his eighth record-breaking World Championship title to Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi last year. But as soon as he saw the pace and the performance of the W13 in comparison with the cars from the rival teams, he knew Mercedes were in for trouble.

Even though 37-year-old Lewis Hamilton has spent a massive time of his life in F1, and has almost seen it all, it can be said that 2022 was arguably his most difficult year in F1. The racer who was hardly ever seen running below the top 3 places in the previous seasons, was suddenly down in the grid rankings, clinging on to the last point places. And most importantly, he could not get a single victory this year despite chancing upon a few podium finishes.

Now, owing to his underperformance and Max Verstappen’s phenomenal rise in this season, Lewis Hamilton has had to hear all sorts of remarks from the fans who said his time is now over, and that he should retire. And it did not help his situation that his teammate–the Mercedes debutant George Russell–managed to outscore him in his very first year with the Stuttgart-based outfit. And all these factors contributed to the reason why Lewis Hamilton had one of the worst times of his career in F1 in 2022.

Once the season finale was done with, Lewis Hamilton heaved a sigh of reloef and took to his Instagram account to big adieu to a year that he would better forget. Reflecting on his experiences in 2022, Lewis Hamilton captioned his post, saying, “I’m pretty sure I speak for all of us when I say I’m glad the season has come to an end.

But then, in classic Lewis style, he went on to focus on the brighter side of things. He mentioned he will be back with the team in an entirely new form for next season. He also said, “We pushed on and learned so much that will get us back to the top next year. I have no doubt we’ll come back better. We’ll be back. I’ll be back.

Thus, Lewis Hamilton has put an end to all rumors of him hanging up his F1 overalls after an unsuccessful 2022 campaign. Moreover, he gave his battle cry by saying that he would bring much more performance to the plate for next season, keeping his fans’ hopes high for the return of the “mighty” Lewis that they have missed in the recently-ended World Championship.
