British boxer Anthony Joshua recently lost to Oleksandr Usyk and reacted in afurious manner that attracted reactions from many people inside and outside the world of boxing. The 32-year-old could not accept his loss to the Ukrainian and thus, as Usyk was announced as the winner by a split decision, Joshua threw his opponent’s gelts out of the ring in a fit of rage and stormed out. Later, he took to his social media to reflect on the night and apologize, and F1 racer Lewis Hamilton posted in support of Anthony Joshua, saying that he can “bounce back from this”.

After the heated reaction that Anthony Joshua displayed after he lost the bout to Oleksandr Usyk, he came back and launched into a rant. Later, he publicly apologised for his odd behaviour, and even said that the night had taught him a few lessons. The fighter also talked about how he was not in the correct mental state and he felt like he had let himself down after losing to Usyk and reacting in that way.

As for Lewis Hamilton, the popular athlete has friendships in all sorts of sports, and he is a huge advocate for mental health. Thus, when he found Joshua, who is also a Briton, post such a vulnerable statement on his Instagram wall, the Mercedes racer quickly reposted it with his own words of encouragement, to remind his “brother” Anthony Joshua that he will be able to come back stronger after this.

Lewis Hamilton has been in Formula 1 for longer than most of the racers on the grid these days, and he has had his fair share of lows during his racing career. As a Black man in a predominantly white people’s sport, Lewis has faced discrimination and severe criticism. But still, the #44 driver has managed to rise above all the scepticism that people harbor about him, and he is now the proud winner of 7 World Championship titles. Thus, Lewis knows how to deal with a crumbling mental state and come back stronger.

On his Instagram page on the day following Anthony Joshu’s altercation with Oleksandr Usyk, the Briton wrote, “Yesterday I had to mentally take myself into a dark place to compete for the championship belts! I had two fights, one with Usyk and one with my emotions and both got the better of me. I’ll be the first to admit, I let myself down.”

Hamilton quickly shared Joshua’s post as his Instagram story update, and he wished his fellow countryman all the luck for the future. The F1 racer also said that Anthony Joshua should keep his head up and be proud of all that he has achieved as he gears up to come back stronger than before.
