“You’re a nasty freak,” F1 fans boil on Twitter over Pierre Gasly’s recent controversial tweet
Pierre Gasly
AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly has recently come under fire for a tweet that he made a few hours ago. Grid Girls have been a controversial topic in the sport for many eons and this the soon to be Alpine driver’s tweet seems to have reignited that particular conversation. While some have praised the driver for his thoughts, many others have gone on to criticise him for his comments.
Grid girls at a point of time were one of the glamours that F1 used to showcase in every grand prix. After facing some criticism and a change of ownership, Liberty Media had decided to ban grid girls wherever possible. However there were some places that still decided to bring them in to make the event look even more glamorous. However the thought wasn’t making much of a roar until Pierre tweeted about it.
The French driver went on the post a photo of him and a woman who was supposedly a grid girl. He further put the caption as ‘Great to have grid girls back!’ and went on to tag the F1 account. However, it didn’t seem like a great idea as he faced a lot of backlash for it. Here is how the fans reacted to Gasly’s tweet from the 2022 Mexico Grand Prix weekend.

And yet again, this also brings out the topic of grid girls and whether they should be in F1 or not. Pierre Gasly might be forced to delete the tweet as it could put a bad image on his team. This reminds us of a story about grid girls that Lewis Hamilton had posted a few years back for the Monaco GP where he thanked the organisers for bringing back grid girls. Interesting times lie ahead.
