Jurgen Klinsmann(1994-95) and (1997-98)
The German striker only lasted two years in 2 different spells at Tottenham Hotspur but just like the saying, “short and sweet” his time at the club was filled with goals and good memories. He arrived from AS Monaco and scored a total of 30 goals for the club in his first spell. During his loan move in 1997 and 98 he scored 9 goals in 15 matches helping the club avoid relegation that year.
Gareth Bale(2007-2013) and (2020-21)
The Welsh superstar- Gareth Bale, is probably Tottenham’s biggest and most influential signing of all time. He joined the club in 2007 from Southampton as a left-back and transformed himself into one of the best wingers in Europe. He scored 42 goals in 143 appearances in his first year and left the club for Real Madrid for a record transfer fee of £85.3million. He once again joined Spurs in 2020-21, this time on loan and lived up to his reputation yet again scoring 11 goals in 20 Premier League appearances.
Luka Modric(2008-2012)
A teammate of Gareth Bale at Tottenham Hotspur, Croatian midfielder Luka Modric is yet another superstar who was signed by the club in 2008. He was brought in for a hefty £16.5million fee from Dinamo Zagreb and went onto establish himself as one of the best players. His passing ability and control of the game in midfield helped Spurs qualify for the Champions League in 2010. He made 127 appearances at the club before moving onto Real Madrid in 2012.
David Ginola(1997-2000)
Those who have seen David Ginola play in a Spurs shirt, would know about the qualities the French striker possessed. Known for his goal scoring records with Paris in France, he made a huge impact on the Spurs’ triumphant League Cup season in 1998-99. Ginola was also named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year.
Teddy Sheringham(1992-1997) (2001-2003)
English striker Teddy Sheringham joined Spurs in 1992 from Nottingham Forest in a £2.1 million move and went onto become one of the best strikers in Tottenham’s history. He scored 22 goals in his first season at the club finishing as the highest scorer of the league. 97 goals in 237 appearances spread over two spell at the club has earned his place as one of their best signings.
Christian Eriksen(2013-2020)
The most recent transfer signing who features in the list is Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen. He was brought in £11million in 2013 as one of the seven transfer signings that year with the Gareth Bale money. Eriksen went onto fulfill his duties perfectly at the middle of the park and served as a perfect heir to Luka Modric who had left the club the year before. Eriksen was known for his outside the box shooting abilities during his time at Spurs and scored 23 goals from the region during that time- a record in the Premier League. He left the club last year for Italian club Inter Milan.
Darren Anderton(1992-2004)
The English playmaker joined Spurs in 1992, the year the Premier League was formed and went onto stay at the club for the next 12 years. He featured in 299 matches for the North London side and scored 34 goals during his stay and also helped the club lift the League Cup in 1998.
Dimitar Berbatov(2006-2008)
Dimitar Berbatov joined Tottenham in 2006 for a hefty fee of around £11million from German club Bayer Leverkusen. However, he paid the club back with his 46 goals during the two seasons at White Hart Lane. He helped Spurs to win the League Cup in 2008, however the club cashed in on him the following year selling him to Manchester United for £30.75million.
Les Ferdinand
The England international, Les Ferdinand joined Spurs in 1997 for a fee of £6 million from Newcastle United. He was also one of the key members of the 1998-99 League Cup winning side and played a total of 118 matches for the club. He scored 33 times for the club and his best season came in 2001-02 where he scored 15 goals.
Robbie Keane(2002-08) and (2009-11)
Robbie Keane is one of Tottenham Hotspur’s greatest ever strikers and the Irishman joined the club in 2002 for £7 million. He helped the Spurs to stay in the Premier League in the 2003-04 season when they were fighting relegation. Keane left the club in summer of 2008 when he moved to Liverpool for just over £20 million. However, he re-joined the club on loan in 2009 and stayed on for 2 more years to add to his tally. He scored 122 goals during his 8 year stay at the club and went on to make over 300 appearances for the Lily Whites.
