“Another so-called Golden Generation wasted”- Fans react as Belgium fails to reach knockout stages of 2022 FIFA World Cup

One of the title contenders of this year’s FIFA World Cup, Belgium has bowed out of the tournament after failing to pick up a win in their penultimate match against Croatia. Belgium started the day in the third position in the group table with Croatia in the second position and both teams needed a win to progress to the next round.

Belgium was considered to have a “Golden Generation” of players and a lot of expectations were expected from this set of players who were playing their last FIFA World Cup. With stars like Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Vertonghen, Courtois, and many more who were most probably playing their last major tournament together wanted to achieve greatness this year but it will be known as another of Belgium’s failed tournaments.

Coach Roberto Martinez has already confirmed that he will leave the team, this being his last tournament with the team. Many fans around the world are bashing him for not being able to take this talented side to any major success in the last 7-8 years and despite being ranked the second best in the world by FIFA, they have failed to yet another chance to win something.

Fans also asked him to retire from international duties and considered him a curse.

Some fans are also trolling coach Martinez for not being able to guide this superstar team to anything so far and have also slammed his tactics. Fans have also said that he has wasted this golden generation of talents and he was never the right man for this job and needs to be removed with immediate effect.
