Kylian Mbappe hits back at FFF President for disrespecting Zinedine Zidane
In a heated conversation, FFF president Noel Le Graet denied speculations that Zinedine Zidane will replace Didier Deschamps, adding fuel to the fire surrounding the predicament of the legendary Real Madrid coach. “Zidane to Brazil? I don’t care. He does what he wants, it’s not my business. I’ve never met him and we never considered parting with Didier,” the official said. La Graet’s comments were not well greeted by France supporters, and after the interview, present France hero Kylian Mbappe defended Zidane.
The president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noel Le Graet, has come under fire from Kylian Mbappe for allegedly disparaging former midfielder Zinedine Zidane. Le Graet claimed that if Zidane had phoned him about taking over as France coach instead of Didier Deschamps, he would not have answered the phone.
“Zidane is France, we don’t disrespect the legend like that..,” Kylian Mbappe tweeted in response to the official’s remarks.
Zinedine Zidane, the former manager of Real Madrid, may make a managerial comeback in 2023, but he will not be pursuing the France position. After France missed the 2022 World Cup final, Zidane was expected to succeed Didier Deschamps at the beginning of 2023. Deschamps will remain in his position until 2026, the FFF has affirmed, despite reports that they intended to let him go.
According to the French publication L’Equipe, Zidane has previously rejected offers from Portugal and Brazil as well as the opportunity to succeed Gregg Berhalter, who is currently in command of the US national team. Zidane is still willing to lead France, but his opportunity may not come for another three years.

Following a World Cup in which the Real Madrid striker was unable to compete, Karim Benzema’s problems at the French Football Federation persist. There are various questions on the French team’s medical personnel in handling the issue of Karim Benzema. He was unable to compete in the World Cup 2022 after suffering a muscle injury while exercising with the national selection in Qatar.
It is unequivocally confirmed by some analysts and the Real Madrid striker’s crew, although the former Lyonnais player himself raises some questions. Noël Le Graët, the president of the FFF, recently said commenting on the speculations, “If Karim had been there, we wouldn’t have had Giroud and we might not have scored as much!”
Olivier Giroud, who had four goals during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, together with the game-winning goal against England in the quarterfinals, undoubtedly used the tournament to his benefit. However, the comparison made by the head of French football is at best awkward given the differences between the two players. KB9 declared his retirement from international competition the day after France fell to Argentina in the final.
