Tottenham Hotspur and manager Antonio Conte Parted ways by “mutual consent” last week. The official statement from the club’s end came at the late hours of Sunday night.
Conte was out of contract at the end of the season. But the Spurs have decided to part ways with 10 games of the campaign remaining. This was following the Italian’s extraordinary outburst in the aftermath of the 3-3 draw against Southampton last weekend. Conte attacked his players and questioned Tottenham’s mentality in an astonishing 10-minute rant. This was the latest of a series of incidents in which the manager criticized Spurs in public during his spell at the club.
Spurs reportedly issued their official statement late on Sunday night. They said, “We can announce that head coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution. And wish him well for the future.”
Club’s loyal fans seem to be relieved by the dismissal of the Italian coach. Especially after the dispute between the club and the manager went public. After the news of Conte leaving Tottenham came out, fans started posting on social media. A fan posted on social media, saying, “Conte was asking for the sack. Lol, now he got his wish granted.” While another fan posted, “No player or manager is above the club. Big ego has no place at Tottenham. Good riddance”. A third fan wrote, “Conte sacked. Finally”.

Fans are reportedly happy with the club’s decision to part ways with Conte. Many felt that Conte’s recent behavior with the club was unacceptable and needed to be replied to with strict action. Fans are now reportedly excited to see who would be the successor of Antonio at the clubs. Julian Nagelsmann, seems to be the candidate whom the fans reportedly see fit for the post.
