“We don’t have an age issue”- Belgium’s Thibaut Courtois slams teammate Kevin De Bruyne for making ‘excuses’ after the loss against Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Thibaut Courtois during an International friendly match.
After Belgium’s 2-0 loss to Morocco in their second group stage matchup at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, the hopes of qualifying to the next stage have gone very slim now. With their last match against the runner-up of the 2018’s edition, Croatia, very few believe that one of the most prolific tournament favorites will make it past the group stage.
With several players looking dejected after the final whistle, Kevin De Bruyne took to the post-match conference saying that they didn’t deserve to win the match at all and that they played badly. He also stated that Belgium is not at all the favorite to top the group or win the FIFA World Cup at all because they have a very old squad.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois seems really pissed and amused with these comments made by the Belgian talisman and also mentioned that they have a great squad and are quite potent to give challenges to the top nations playing in the tournament. He said, “We don’t have an age issue. At Real Madrid, we have Modrić and Benzema. It’s too easy to make excuses.”

What happened between Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard after the match?
There have been rumors circulating for quite the last two days that Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard exchanged a few words in the dressing room after the match and Thibaut Courtois cleared all the doubt regarding that issue. He said, “There are no problems in the team, it’s just an external attempt to create internal problems.”
He added, “Of course, after a defeat, nobody is happy, but it brings us even closer because we know that we will have to give everything on the lawn on Thursday. We said things to each other, and sometimes it feels good. I don’t think we missed it, but it’s one thing to talk to each other at the table or individually or to talk in a group, to solve everything together. The problem, it’s that what’s said in the press isn’t always the truth.”
