Xavi and Iniesta won multiple Champions Leagues, European Championships, and a FIFA World Cup with Barcelona and Spain, respectively. FC Barcelona’s legends, Xavi and Iniesta are universally perceived as being one of the best footballing duos.
Present FC Barcelona midfielders Pedri, who is only 20 years old, and Gavi, who is only 18 years old, are aiming to pursue those prestigious footprints. Both players have made a great imprint thus far, not least on Barcelona manager Xavi.
Xavi stated in an interview with Mundo Deportivo that Barcelona’s new generation of teen skill sets all demonstrate a tremendous commitment to the future. Xavi acknowledged that he believed prevailing midfield geniuses Gavi and Pedri were already performing at a greater level than he and Iniesta were at the age of 20.
Xavi has had a difficult debut season at Camp Nou. While Barcelona currently leads La Liga, the manager has yet to win a trophy. Xavi asserted that Barcelona’s present batch of youngsters is among the finest the team has ever known: “Me at 20 years old and Andres at 20 years old, we were not at the level that Pedri or Gavi are. Eric Garcia, at twenty; Ansu… How Gavi competes, the passion he puts in… We were not at his level.”
Pedri and Gavi have a bright future under Xavi Hernandez in Barcelona

Xavi was core to Barcelona’s supremacy in the late 2000s and initial 2010s. He moved up the roles of the academy to clinch 25 trophies in 17 seasons with the Blaugrana. Xavi is returned to the club, but in a unique position, directing FC Barcelona through an economic recession off the field and lack of consistency on it. The team is in a transitional period as the club deals with the loss of Lionel Messi.
Xavi’s entry will undoubtedly benefit numerous club figures. There are a lot of players who will learn a lot and become improved editions of themselves by functioning under the iconic midfielder who is currently their manager. One such player is Pedri who is following in Xavi’s footsteps to become the best midfielder in the world. Pedri was the breakthrough hero last year, appearing in a significant number of football games for both FC Barcelona and Spain. The Spaniard received the Golden Boy Award in 2021 for his stellar showings at all tiers.

The La Masia player is competent in playing a variety of roles and possesses the same characteristics as the team’s culture of playing magnificent possession-based football. Fans equate Pedri to Andres Iniesta or even Xavi, which is intimidating for the youngster. The 19-year-old possesses a great ability that needs to be developed and there is no better person than Xavi to supervise Pedri’s advancement in FC Barcelona.
