Manchester United without a doubt has been the best team of the Premier League era since the inception of the Premier League in 1992. Lead by the legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United ventured to the summit and finished there a record-breaking thirteen times, which included numerous doubles and a famous treble-winning season back in 1999. They are the only English club to win a treble, a record which still stands today, and is the only club to win the league in three consecutive years having achieved this feat twice, 1998-99 to 2000-01 and 2006-07 to 2009.

However, Manchester United is a shadow of their former self, having failed to win the Premier League since 2013, the year Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Their highest finish since their talismanic manager retired are two 2nd place finishes, one back in 2018 under Jose Mourinho and another 2nd place finish this year under their former player and current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Manchester United has churned out some great players in the Premier League era, like Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, the standard set by these players is something the players and fans of this great club look up to.

Their meteoric rise to success came after their take over by Abu Dhabi United group back in 2008. Manchester City has since gone to win the league title five times in this past decade. The Pep Guardiola coached side lifted the Premier League title again this year; however, they have still a lot of catching to do with their neighbours Manchester United.
