Abu Dhabi GP: Will the sharp kerbs at Yas Marina play a role in deciding the 2021 world champion?
Lewis and Max
The kerbs, the dreaded kerbs are back at the Yas Marina Circuit this weekend. Over the years the drivers, fans all have vouched for the circuit to become more exciting and overtaking friendly. It seems their wishes have come true as the circuit officials have taken everyone’s request into consideration and have made considerable changes.
The track has been made faster and it is expected that the times are going to be 15 seconds faster than last year. The restructuring has been mainly done at turn five, six and seven. The experts are of the opinion that we are going to witness an exciting race as compared to the races that have been held on the circuit in the past.
Abu Dhabi GP: Learning from recent experience
Not so long ago at the Qatar Grand Prix, we saw three drivers not being able to finish the race because of going over the razor-sharp, stepped kerbs multiple times and as an end result saw their tyres getting slashed and ruining their race. One of the drivers was Mercedes very own Valtteri Bottas, he went over the kerbs on lap 33 to save up a few seconds but his gamble backfired as he got his tyres slashed and were not able to complete the race. This is something that Both Max and Hamilton should take note of.

It is going to be absolutely crucial for Mercedes and Redbull that they advise their drivers to not go into the turns too aggressively as one mistake could ruin the title aspirations of both the drivers. Both the drivers should avoid taking any unnecessary risks.
Speed friend or foe at Yas Marina?
When someone talks about Formula1, speed is usually a friend. But there are certain tracks where speed could end up being your worst enemy as well. We all got a taste of it at the Qatar Grand Prix and given the alterations at the Yas Marina circuit, it could as well turn out to be an enemy for the drivers. In turn five, the kerbs have been placed right on the line and it could spell trouble for the two title contenders going into the final weekend of the 2021 season.
It is all about small margins in Formula 1 and given the state of the title battle with both Max and Lewis level on points, neither of the two drivers can afford a DNF after coming so far into the season. This weekend is the last race of the season and both drivers would be raring to go and get that title in their hands and get the bragging rights for at least one more time before the 2022 regulations kick in next season.
