British Grand Prix Result: Lewis Hamilton Wins 8th Race at Silverstone After Nail-Biting Finish

Lewis Hamilton

After a controversial start to the British Grand Prix, it was Lewis Hamilton who managed to fetch the limelight at the end as well. Making sure he won his 8th British Grand prix title in emphatic style after being penalised with a 10-second penalty early on. Lewis Hamilton trailed for 50 laps to Charles Leclerc, only to make a significant comeback and cross the finish line by a margin of more than 2 seconds.

Charles Leclerc gave his 100%, yet could not out-pace Hamilton who wanted to finally thank each and every fan who had come out in support of him. Not only that, Hamilton was cruising with the fastest lap as well, until Red Bull changed Sergio Perez’s soft tyres to make sure they snatch the 1-point off Hamilton’s name at the end. Valtteri Bottas managed to rank third on the podium, completing a perfect comeback for the Silver Arrows.

Daniel Ricciardo was another driver who impressed the most after managing to keep Carlos Sainz behind him throughout. However, he was outdone once again by his teammate Lando Norris, who held Hamilton substantially behind him for a while. But a slow pit stop eventually slowed him up.

Having said that, Mercedes have made a significant comeback in the Constructor’s championship as well. Sergio Perez managed to score only 1-point for the fastest lap. With the ace Dutchman out, this would surely be a race to forget for the Austrian team. Along with Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel too was unable to finish the race
