Provisional Starting Grid for the British Grand Prix: Max Verstappen on Pole; George Russel Dealt with Penalty
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell
This was the first time that the Qualifying for British Grand Prix was done in an entirely new format. The Sprint Qualifying session was a historic one as Red Bull ace Max Verstappen took pole, but with the new format, there were sure to be modifications before deciding upon the final starting grid for the race day. After the Qualifying session, a number of drivers including Carlos Sainz and George Russell had to report to the stewards.
More importantly it comes to be known that the British driver, Russell was penalized for the incident that took place during the sprint race between him and Carlos Sainz and gets a grid penalty of three places. As a result, he has lost his top 10 position on the grid and will have to start from 12th.
