Red Bull Reveal Their Interest In Lando Norris

In a recent conversation with an Austrian news outlet OE24, Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko has revealed that their interest in signing Lando Norris was real and they held talks with him previously. The British driver recently signed a long-term contract with McLaren, committing his future with them. While the length of the deal remains undisclosed for now, it looks certain that Lando is here to stay.
On the other hand, Red Bull have a perfect main driver in Max Verstappen but have struggled to find him a partner in recent years. Although they have signed Sergio Perez for the 2022 season as well, it is now confirmed that they were interested in Lando after he had a fantastic start to the season.
What did Marko state upon Red Bull’s interest in Lando Norris?
Have a look at what Marko had to say about Red Bull’s interest in Lando Norris, “We had talks with him, but he’s tied to McLaren for the long-term. We stay true to our way,” This statement from the advisor himself confirms that if Lando had not signed a new contract this season, Red Bull could’ve handed him an offer he couldn’t have declined.
He went on to say that even if they had signed Norris, Max still would’ve been the best driver in the cockpit and that he is still at the top of the rankings for him. He further added that Verstappen almost won the race in Sochi after starting from P20 as he took a penalty for his clash with Lewis in Monza and also because he changed his power unit.
That being said and done, this fierce season continues in Istanbul next weekend as we head into the 16th race. With only two points separating Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris, every race from this point of time will be very critical for both of them.
