“We are not friends”: Lewis Hamilton’s cold response to Nico Rosberg latest claim
Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have been on each other’s throat throughout the 2021 season. Not being able to afford even a single point slip up in the remaining races, the Dutchman heads to Austin on the backs of a 6-point advantage over the reigning champion. With the stakes so high, Hamilton’s former teammate Nico Rosberg recently offered advice to the ace Red Bull driver on how to beat the British driver.
Although Rosberg started by praising Hamilton as the best of all time yet he pointed out the latter’s weakness. Rosberg who beat Hamilton famously in 2016 told Square Mile, “Lewis Hamilton also has these periods where he loses a bit of motivation. He has these dips in form and there it’s important to maximise those moments, to keep him down for a bit longer. If all these ingredients come together you stand a chance.”

In an unearthed video while the pair were still teammates, a Sky Sports interviewer asked Hamilton if he would “mend bridges with his friend”. The driver bluntly replied, “Well, we’re not friends. We are colleagues and we will work with the team to get as many one-twos and points as possible.”
The interviewer followed up by asking, “Does the fact you’ve known each other for a very long time not count for anything in terms of friendship?” Lewis Hamilton appeared struck by the question, and mused for a moment before unenthusiastically responding, “Maybe.”
