“Not a Good Feeling,” Francisco Lindor Doesn’t Mince Words After Mets Suffer 11th Consecutive Defeat
The New York Mets suffered their 11th successive loss on Sunday as they blew a 1-0 lead in the 9th inning and lost 2-1 after 10 innings against the Chicago Cubs.

The New York Mets lost again on Sunday. In the final game of the series against the Chicago Cubs, they blew a 1-0 lead late in the game and suffered an 11th successive defeat. After the game, Francisco Lindor did not mince his words regarding the current state of the team.
The Queens-based side had a 7-4 record after 11 games with series wins over the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants. Following a walk-off win against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the series opener, the Mets were hoping for back-to-back series wins.
Since then, things have gone downhill for them. The D-backs outscored them 14-3 in the next two games and took the series. The Athletics would then shock the world with a 3-game series sweep of the National League East team.
On the road, the team then got swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The reigning champions put up 14 runs in 3 games against them and conceded just 3 in return. On Friday, the team was blown away 12-4 by the Chicago Cubs, which condemned them to their 9th straight defeat.
Following a 4-2 loss on Saturday, the Mets lost 10 games in a row. They became the first side this season to hit this low. In the series finale against the Cubs, they were leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Devin Williams, who had some trouble with the New York Yankees in save situations in 2025, blew the game once again. The pitcher gave up a double to Michael Conforto, which tied the game at 1-1.

Nico Hoerner‘s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning allowed Pete-Crew Armstrong to tag up from third and score the winning run. The Mets thus picked up their 11th straight defeat, their longest losing run in around 22 years.
Brutal stretch continues for the Mets…

Following the loss, team superstar Francisco Lindor dropped a blunt assessment of the situation. The shortstop admitted that the team needed to do better than this.
This feeling sucks. It’s not a good feeling. … We got to do whatever it takes to end up on top after 27 outs and sometimes 30 outs. It’s not a good feeling.

The team did have moments in the game. They went 1-for-9 with Runners In Scoring Positions and left 6 of them on base. In the 6th inning, Lindor struck out to end the inning after Luis Torrens had hit a leadoff double. The 5-time All-Star went hitless again as he finished the day going 0-for-4 with 1 strikeout.
This is now the Mets’ longest losing run since 2004. That year, the team dropped 11 games in a row from late August to early September. They went on to finish that campaign with a 71-91 record, 24 games behind first-place Atlanta Braves.
Mets’ Carlos Mendoza claims team needs to find a way soon
The 2026 season has so far gone horribly wrong for the New York Mets. The team, which has a $381 million payroll, holds the worst record in the league along with the Kansas City Royals at 7-15. Manager Carlos Mendoza claimed that they needed to find a way to turn things around soon.

While speaking with the reporters, Mendoza admitted that the team was going through a “tough stretch” at the moment.
It’s a tough stretch right now. … 11 losses, that’s a lot, whether it’s in April or at any point in the season. Nobody’s going to feel sorry for us. We’ve got to find a way.
Carlos Mendoza said as per SNY

One major piece missing in the team right now is Juan Soto. The 4-time MLB All-Star was sidelined with a right calf strain and has been out of action since April 3. In this absence, the team’s offense has struggled.
Speaking of the Mets, in their franchise history, the team have had some big losing runs. In their inaugural season in 1962, they set a league record for the most losses, finishing 40-120. That season, they had an 11-game, a 13-game, and a record 17-game losing streak.
Last year, the Cleveland Guardians also lost 10 games in the regular season. Despite that, the AL Central side still made it to the playoffs, winning the division with an 88-74 record. So, the Mets still have time to make a huge comeback.
