The LIV Golf Series has recently been hustling to get its way into the OWGR Points. However, some of the biggest critics of the Series including Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy really don’t understand why they deserve a place on the board.
Since the golfers on the LIV Series cannot be a part of the OWGR Points, it is severely affecting stars such as Cameron Smith and Bryson DeChambeau. Unfortunately the ambiguity regarding the format of LIV is not sitting well with the OWGR Board. The 54-hole, no cut and team style format does not fit in with most of the golf world- leaving everyone confused.
Yet, most golfers on the PGA Tour are not extremely welcoming of the LIV Golfers back to the OWGR Points. Rory McIlroy commented saying that the golfers knew what they were getting into, and they knew the consequences of their actions.
Justin Thomas’ harsh stance against the LIV Golf Series
Justin Thomas has also said that it is their fault for joining the LIV Series. “I don’t understand,” Thomas said Tuesday at the Presidents Cup according to Fox Sports.
“It’s very obvious and written right there in front of them. They just naturally want what’s best for them, just like the decision they made to go there,” said Thomas. The situation continues to get heated, the OWGR Points of the LIV Series hang in the balance of the board.
