Phil Mickelson ‘ditches’ lawsuit in the last hour

Phil Mickelson has chosen not to take part in the proceedings of the lawsuit between the PGA Tour and the LIV Golfers. This lawsuit was filed last month against the PGA’s decision to ban players who had jumped ship to the LIV Golf Circuit.
Phil Mickelson is in the Hall of Fame and definitely a legend. He has won six Majors and 45 PGA tour victories. Apart from himself, Mickelson also took Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford, and Ian Poulter with him.

LIV Golf, the $255 million circuit is backed by Saudi’s PIF. Critics have had their say all season long about the pros and cons of LIV Golf. Saudi Arabia, trying to improve its record on the human rights front, is also one of the facets of this.
” I am focused on moving forward and extremely happy being a part of LIV, while also grateful for my time on the Tour,” stated Mickelson via LIV Golf.
LIV Golf’s main attribute that attracted some of the big names including Mickelson was the huge winning purses. The PGA Tour has made certain changes to its winning structure, also providing some assured prize guarantees.
Mickelson and other golfers filed a lawsuit in August, earlier this year. In July, the U.S. Justice Department gave some hints about the investigation into PGA’s action in suspending players that joined LIV Golf Circuit.
“LIV stands with the players whom the PGA Tour has treated so poorly, but we also recognize that to be successful, we no longer need a wide array of players to be on the suit,” a statement by LIV Golf stated.
Mickelson, a fan favorite took a self-imposed break in February after some controversial remarks from an autobiography surfaced. Phil Mickelson was banned by the PGA because of his active involvement in recruiting players to LIV.
