The LIV Golf series has managed to still stay on, creating waves over the last year. Now to be taken seriously, quite the few good players have made the switch to the tour. However, the Saudi backed series also continues to face increasing backlash, criticism and isolation from the PGA Tour.
From the likes of Phil Mickelson to Cameron Smith, the LIV Series is not lacking talent. And now, Viktor Hovland might be considering shifting to the series, which is interesting because he already rejected an offer from them in the past. The LIV series has been attracting golfers with large amounts of money- nothing short of a few hundred billion.
Ahead of the Genesis Invitational, Hovland has shared some shocking news. He will not rule out a move to the LIV Golf Series if it is worth it. The tension between the two Tours has risen for this very reason- no one knows who will leave which series and go where, causing a lot of uncertainty.

“I don’t think it is controversial to say that many of the changes on the PGA Tour are because of LIV. Nothing is ruled out. I just try to do the best for me and my venture,” said Hovland, making his point very clear. However, this does not come without its set of challenges.
“But you never know what the future holds. But they [LIV] have a long way to go, to put it that way. As of today, I want to play here, this is where the best players are. I think it’s better for my golf if I play on the PGA Tour,” said Hovland, saying the if LIV Golf progresses well, he could see himself on the Series.
For now however, Hovland sets his sight on the Genesis Invitational– a tough course at the Riviera. 23 of the top 25 players will be joining the tournament for one of the toughest battles in the season. This will also include freshly crowned Phoenix Open winner, Scottie Scheffler- who is now also world no. 1.
Making his comeback at the Genesis Invitational is Tiger Woods. The golfing legend is back on track after an 8 month break. After missing the cut at St. Andrews, he will be back on the PGA Tour once more. Players and fans alike are excited to see Woods back on course once again.
