“How does the ring girl make more money than the fighters?”, Jake Paul brings up wage issues in the UFC on ‘Beyond the Fight’ with Chael Sonnen
Jake Paul about pay issue at UFC
Jake Paul makes a bold claim that the ring girls in UFC make more money than some of the fighters who ‘risk their lives’ in the Octagon. The Youtuber once again makes the headlines in the MMA world.
The Youtube star turned professional boxer Jake Paul has always tried to poke his nose into the MMA community but even more so off-late. Jake has been engaging in a lot of disputes with MMA stars on social media and even some in real life. This time the boxer goes after the bossman of UFC himself, Dana White.
Recently, Chael Sonnen entertained Jake Paul in an episode of his popular show “Beyond the Fight”. The stars spoke about Jake’s recent controversy with Floyd Mayweather, Daniel Cormier, and lastly wage issues in the UFC. Chael asked the Problm Child about his contract with the Triller Fight Club and that’s when he began to talk about paying the fighters. Jake is currently under contract with Triller but is free to fight anywhere.
“Yeah, that’s accurate. Yeah. I’m a free agent. And look, I think that’s the way it should be with all fighters. Like, it just s**ks to see these young kids – these young boxers, these young UFC champions – get tied up into these contracts where they’re owned by the promoter, they’re owned by Dana White. And they’re not getting fair pay. They’re not getting the fights they want. This is a big problem,” Jake Paul said on Chael’s show.
Jake Paul wants to help the fighters realize their worth
Jake Paul couldn’t stress enough about the fact that fighters are the ones who run the show and sell the tickets. The YouTube star wants to help UFC fighters get out of their miserable contracts which he says is disrespectful to the fighters. “Like, how is ‘Arianna Celeste’ (UFC octagon girl Arianny Celeste) I think is her name. She’s a ring girl, right? How does she make more money than some of the fighters in the octagon who are risking their lives? Doesn’t make sense to me,” said Jake.
And I think, I don’t know, it’s just a big problem. And I’m hoping to help change that and just help fighters realize that they are the content. They are the ones that the fans are showing up for. They are the ones that are driving these pay-per-views. And they’re the ones, again, risking their lives. And they should be rewarded for that,” he ended.
Do you think the younger Paul brother makes sense this time?
