Drafting a top pick doesn’t guarantee success, but the Washington Commanders are certainly in the affirmative side of this statement. The credit for the impressive turnaround from a 4-13 end last season to a 3-1 start in 2024, goes to rookie star Jayden Daniels.
It’s only been four games, but Daniels has already begun setting records and breaking the previous ones. But the football field isn’t the only place where he is smashing records. His growing popularity has made his shirt the No. 1 selling jersey on Fanatics last week, as per Michael Rubin.
In the last four games, the second-overall pick posted astounding, record-breaking numbers of 82.1 completion percent of his passes with 897 yards and three touchdowns. His completion percentage is found to be the highest by any player since 1950 during a four-game stretch, which surpassed previous records set by Tom Brady at 79.2, Geno Smith at 77.3, and Kyler Murray at 76.1.
Additionally, he is also the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award this season, competing with Malik Nabers. Coming to his contributions to the team’s success, he has made the Commanders’ offense the most efficient one across the league, by logging 23 scoring drives in last four matches.
Their season-opening might not have gone as the team hoped, but after building a three-game winning streak, Daniels is expected to lead the Commanders among the Super Bowl contenders this season.
Jayden Daniels’ consistent improvement fuels team’s winning streak
Since his draft, Daniels hasn’t received the same spotlight as the first overall pick Caleb Williams. However, after finding his rhythm on the field, he emerged as one of the most successful quarterbacks from this year’s NFL Draft Class.
In the last four games, his performance has consistently improved along with the winning score of the team.
The Commanders are coming off a dominating victory against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4, clinching victory at 42-14. Daniels finished the game by completing 26 out of his 30 passes for 233 yards, a touchdown, and one interception.
