Jaylen Brown has entered a new phase of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics drafted Brown with the number three pick in 2016, and He spent the first decade of his career in Boston.

During his stint with the Celtics, he took them to five Eastern Conference Finals, two NBA Finals, and led them to their first championship in 16 years in 2024. He was also named the Finals MVP when they won the championship.

However, he’s wearing the 76ers jersey this season after his summer move. Former NBA player and Celtics analyst Brian Scalabrine suggested that Brown had demanded a trade from Boston before they eventually sent him to Philly.

When asked, the former Finals MVP reiterated that he never demanded a trade to leave the Celtics.

I saw [Scalabrine] has made some comments. I’ve never had any issues with Scal. I can understand why he feels the need to do that, but I have no interest in letting any false allegations follow me into my next chapter here in Philadelphia. I never demanded a trade. I never made a list of ultimatums of sorts. And that is true.

The blockbuster trade of Brown to the 76ers will go down as one of the most shocking trades in recent times. It came after the forward led the Celtics to the playoffs last season despite Jayson Tatum missing the majority of the campaign due to injury. His performances saw him finish sixth in the MVP race, which is his best-ever ranking.

The move surprised Brown himself, as he was always vocal about spending his entire career in Boston if it were up to him. While Scalabrine suggested that the player demanded a trade, the 30-year-old denied the claims.

Jaylen Brown is focused on his new stint with the Philadelphia 76ers

Since Brown’s move to the 76ers, there has been a lot of noise regarding his relationship with the organization and his former teammate Jayson Tatum. It was widely reported that the two stars were not on good terms anymore, and Brown’s recent actions added more fuel to the fire.

The two superstars spent nine seasons together and brought immense success to the Celtics. Unfortunately, the Celtics decided to bank their future on Tatum and traded Brown away.

As he adjusts to life in Philadelphia, Brown has been constantly asked about his time in Boston. After dismissing Scalabrine’s claims, he reiterated that his focus is on performing for his new team.

As of now, I’m going to just stay focused on what’s in front of me here in Philadelphia. I’ve got a tremendous opportunity, and I’m looking forward to that. I’m going to just leave the questions for another time during the season.

Jaylen Brown and the 76ers continue their strong start to the campaign

The arrival of Jaylen Brown and then the signing of LeBron James has turned the 76ers into the most dominant team in the league as presently constructed. With some much-needed leadership and veterans’ experience in the locker room, the 76ers are viewed as strong contenders to win the championship next year.

However, there were concerns about how a team filled with stars would gel together, and the early signs and results have been promising so far. The 76ers registered their fourth win in five games after clinching a closely fought 114-109 victory over the Indiana Pacers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

Tyrese Maxey led the scorers once again with 27 points, while Brown recorded a double-double as he ended his night with 20 points and 10 rebounds. In his five appearances for the 76ers so far, he is averaging 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists.

It is still early days of the season. With still 77 games to go in the regular season, Brown and his teammates will need to work on their team chemistry, as they have all the talent in the world to deliver a championship next year.
