LeBron James and Jaylen Brown are going to suit up for the Philadelphia 76ers next season. They were the two biggest acquisitions in a busy summer for the 76ers this year.
After the duo joined the 76ers, many expect them to be legitimate title contenders in the 2026-27 campaign. It has been 43 years since the franchise last lifted a championship.
After finishing at seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings last season, the 76ers reached the playoffs through the Play-In Tournament. They pulled off a memorable 3-1 comeback against the Boston Celtics in the first round before the New York Knicks clean-swept them in the Conference Semifinals. As a result, major changes were needed to the roster.
The workout session of James, Brown, and Tyrese Maxey has generated a lot of attention in the NBA world. During his livestream, Brown commented on what it felt like working out with his new teammates.
We’ve been working, building chemistry with the guys. Maxey is a dog. You don’t even need to say what LeBron is. He look good, healthy. LeBron is in his Kobe year.

Brown played a vital role in trying to convince James to join Philly. The 2024 Finals MVP was traded to the 76ers from the Celtics in one of the most surprising trades this year. After the blockbuster trade of Brown, the 76ers front office pulled off one of the biggest free agency moves by signing the King.
LeBron James signed a two-year deal with the 76ers, meaning he will play his 24th and 25th seasons for them. While he may be in the final years of his career, Brown sees James as healthy and believes that he is hungry to win his fifth championship, which would tie him with Kobe Bryant.
Jaylen Brown is out to kill this year
The hype and expectations surrounding the 76ers have grown significantly since their two big moves in the offseason. Some even labeled the upcoming season as “championship or bust” before even playing their first game.

Brown is raring to play with his new teammates and described his mentality heading into the new campaign.
My mentality this year is to kill. I want blood this year. That’s the mentality.

Brown was unveiled by his new team three weeks ago. He emphasized that his goal is to win a championship, and he is willing to make sacrifices to his game to achieve it. The forward is focused on the task at hand and is ready to go for the kill this year.
Boston will always be a part of Jaylen Brown
Jaylen Brown was drafted by the Celtics in the 2016 NBA draft. He spent nine seasons with them and led them to a championship in 2024.
What made his move to the 76ers shocking was that Brown never requested a trade. In fact, he wished to play in Boston for another 10 years if the decision was up to him. Unfortunately, the Celtics front office had other plans.
He left a mark on the Celtics forever. For the first time since his move, Brown returned for his 741 Frequency Fest at Boston Common. Fans gathered to recognize everything he accomplished during his decade with the Celtics.
While speaking to the media, Brown said that Boston is a part of him and vice versa.
I’m a part of Boston, and Boston is a part of me… So many memories have been made here.

Boston was finally able to give Brown the farewell he deserved. Not only was he a homegrown talent, but he also went on to become one of the best players in the league today. It will be interesting to see how Boston fans will receive Brown when they take on the 76ers next season.
