The Philadelphia 76ers will be feeling more confident than ever after landing Jaylen Brown and LeBron James in the offseason. With Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey within their ranks, the expectations and hype surrounding the 76ers are higher than ever before.

James surprised everyone when he decided to leave the Los Angeles Lakers after eight years. While many expected him to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers or Miami Heat, the 76ers presented him with a very different opportunity to embark on a new journey.

NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that Brown showed interest in teaming up with the King through James’ agent, Rich Paul.

Jaylen Brown did have communication with Rich Paul, to let Rich Paul know ‘hey, I want LeBron here, this is someone I want to play with.’

While James’ decision to join the 76ers surprised many, the biggest shock of the summer took place when the Boston Celtics traded away Brown to their direct rivals. The move left everyone bemused, including Jaylen Brown, as the former Finals MVP wished to stay in Boston for the next 10 years if he had a choice.

James began to take the 76ers’ pitch seriously after they landed Brown. Brown did whatever he could to convince James to sign with Philly as well. With the talent and star power in the squad, the 76ers will be heavy favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference next season.

The impact of Jaylen Brown and LeBron James joining the 76ers

LeBron James and Brown will bring in some much-needed leadership and playoff experience to the franchise, which has not even reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years. After the announcement of James joining Philly was made, the ticket prices soared like never seen before.

Shams Charania weighed in on the impact of the two superstars joining the 76ers this offseason.

There’s no doubt it’s a complete game changer. I think it sets Philadelphia up to be obviously they’re gonna get a ton of national TV games probably the most in the league, the most exposure, they become the most fascinating storyline in the NBA because of Jaylen Brown, because of LeBron James. What those two guys entail, two former finals MVPs joining an organization in the offseason that’s never happened in NBA history.

While there is no doubt that James’ impact will be huge on the court, it is expected to be the same, if not more, off the court as well. He has transformed and even brought relevancy to franchises wherever he went. The 76ers will feature in a lot more national TV games next season.

LeBron James can make history with the 76ers

James will be entering his 24th season in the NBA. He may not be the player he once was but he can still play an instrumental role in helping his team lift a title. As he chases his fifth ring, James can also become the first player in league history to win a title with four different clubs.

Shams Charania revealed that James is playing for a different legacy at this stage of his career.

It’s always about the rings. And there’s no doubt LeBron is playing for a different legacy. And the legacy being the only player in NBA history to win a championship with four different teams. And this is kind of he’s playing on borrowed time. Like a player has never gone into a 23rd season, much less a 24th and 25th season. So, it’s like he’s playing with spare change here where he can see like what can I do even if I’m a starter, a high level contributor, a high level player to this, there’s a very good chance if the Sixers win a championship.

James may have never played alongside a stacked team like the 76ers are at the moment. They boast arguably the best starting five in the league today. The hunt for James’ fifth title is very much on.
