Josh Allen and Sam Darnold’s bromance dates back to their college days
Darnold qualified for his second Super Bowl, first as a starting quarterback during the 2025-26 NFL season. The Seattle Seahawks drew the six-time champions, the New England Patriots, in the final.

Ahead of the big showdown at Levi’s Stadium, Allen appeared on FS1’s First Things First show and threw his support behind Darnold to win against the Patriots. That’s because, to Allen, Darnold is his “boy.” They met while playing college ball.
I think it was the Touchdown Club of Columbus, going into our draft, his sophomore year, my junior year. And like I said, we live pretty close together. We spent a lot of time in the offseason together playing golf and hanging out. So I’m rooting for my man there. 14, that wears number 14 for the Seattle Seahawks.

Both Darnold (third overall by the New York Jets) and Allen were drafted (7th overall by the Bills) during the 2018 NFL Draft. While Allen cemented himself as the Bills’ number one, Darnold became a journeyman, bouncing around from the Jets to the Carolina Panthers, the San Francisco 49ers, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Seahawks.
In Minnesota, Darnold finally announced himself as a true number-one signal caller in the 2024 season. The following year, the 28-year-old secured his first Super Bowl ring. In doing so, Darnold became the first quarterback to start and win a ring from the 2018 draft club.
Allen, meanwhile, won consecutive AFC East titles, posted an 8-7 playoff record, and became the league MVP in 2024.
