When LeBron James was exploring free agency, it was no secret that he wanted to reunite with either Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving on one of the teams that were in the running to sign him.
The latter was rumored to be part of trade conversations with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Dallas Mavericks made it clear that they had no interest whatsoever in trading their leading superstar.
The Washington Wizards held the same opinion when their center was rumored to be on the Golden State Warriors’ radar. The latter franchise knew that they only had a chance of luring the King if they could land Davis too.
James having such a high opinion of his former Lakers’ teammate is not misplaced. Sure, the center has had his fair share of health issues, but there is a reason why the four-time champion wanted another run with the Chicago native.
AD comes into the weight room in the morning, and he says, ‘Bron, you said that as soon as I came in we are going to work together. We haven’t worked out yet. He (James) said, ‘You have to get up a little earlier to come work out with me.’
Lionel Hollins revealed on SiriusXM NBA Radio
The former Lakers coach revealing this indicates that even though LeBron James was behind the franchise trading for Anthony Davis, he wanted to set the tone as to when he is available for a workout.

Hollins added that there was no way the veteran superstar was going to change his routine, and his newest teammate had to follow his schedule if he wanted to work out.
LeBron James mural comes up after 76ers signing
LeBron James probably trusts Anthony Davis more than many players, to the extent where he wanted the Warriors to trade for his former teammate. When it became clear that it was not going to happen, the center apparently tried to lure him to the Wizards.
However, the Akron native was clear that he wanted to join a team that gives him an immediate chance of fighting for the championship. Now, that team happens to be the Philadelphia 76ers.
After three weeks of deliberation, the league’s all-time leading scorer felt that this was the team that could help him add to his ring collection. So far, he has not arrived in the city to do a press conference.
The Miami Heat famously tried to set up such an event beforehand, only to be embarrassed. However, it seems James is not going to do a press conference any time soon. But that did not deter Philly residents from showing their love.

After all the billboards and signs that appeared in the immediate aftermath of his decision, the city has seen a significant increase in interest in the 76ers basketball team. Now, an artist has painted a mural of LeBron James wearing the team’s iconic throwback jersey. It seems fans are doing everything to welcome the superstar.
LeBron James is currently in Arizona
Unlike the Miami Heat, the Philadelphia 76ers have not scheduled any press conference for the league’s biggest superstar. Rather, there are rumors that LeBron James might not want an exclusive one and will join his new teammates to speak with reporters when training camp opens.

Since that will not happen until late September, the oldest player in the league is doing what a father does: being with his children. James has conveyed to his family that he will not be around and is trying to be around them as much as he can.
While his eldest son is in Los Angeles, his younger son, Bryce James, is currently at the University of Arizona, getting ready for the 2026 college basketball season.
Knowing that he will not get time off, his father traveled to Arizona so that he can spend time watching his son and his Wildcats teammates go through their paces.

From here, James will likely head back home to Los Angeles so that he can be with his older son, his wife, and his daughter. That means it will be a while before the 22-time All-Star makes it to Philadelphia.
