Even though the San Francisco 49ers couldn’t score a triumph in the Super Bowl game against the Kansas City Chiefs, there’s no denying that quarterback Brock Purdy has come really far from being picked in the last round of his draft and earning the title of Mr. Irrelevant.
When the second-year quarterback took over the starting QB position, the 49ers had no other options as both their leading quarterbacks were injured. However, the way he led them to the NFC champion game that year, followed by a run for the Super Bowl trophy in his second, the Niners now have great confidence in their success with Purdy in the league.
While talking about Purdy’s growth as the starting QB, former 49ers defensive back Logan Ryan predicted a mind-blowing deal for Purdy, during his recent appearance on Keyshawn Johnson‘s ‘All Facts No Brakes’ podcast.
He's here to stay. I think they're going to give him a bag, too. He's going to be like one of the highest-paid. People will be shocked. Like, what? You're going to be talking about that forever. But, nah, he's here to stay.Tom Brady’s former teammate and two-time Super Bowl champion said
Niners’ owner Jed York as well, hinted towards a lucrative deal for the young quarterback, stating the franchise is ready to offer Purdy the record-setting extension he may ask for on his eligibility.
How Brock Purdy’s resilience earned HC Kyle Shanahan’s trust
Talking about the quarterback’s potential lucrative deal with the Niners, Ryan, who recently parted ways with them after playing for five seasons, also shed some light on how Mr. Irrelevant gained the trust and confidence of head coach Kyle Shanahan.
It happened after the worst game of Purdy’s NFL career, last season against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day. He got intercepted four times before eventually being removed from the game in the fourth quarter. But HC Shanahan was surprisingly impressed by Purdy, as he didn’t stop making the throws despite the four interceptions.
“Shanahan loves him,” said Ryan. He also praised the 24-year-old playmaking ability and his “god ability” even though he has played with the Greatest Quarterback of All Time, Brady.
