Mirra Andreeva vs. Marta Kostyuk: Match Preview

Mirra Andreeva is chasing his third title of the season. She beat fellow 19-year-old Victoria Mboko in the final of the Adelaide International and then downed Anastasia Potapova in the Linz Open final.

She kick-started her campaign for the season at the Brisbane International, where her run ended in the quarterfinals. After her Adelaide win, her run at the Australian Open ended at the hands of Elina Svitolina in the fourth round.

After her defeat to Mboko in the fourth round of the Qatar Open and her failed title defense in Dubai (lost to Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals), Andreeva lost to Katerina Siniakova in the Indian Wells third round. Mboko once again knocked her out, this time, in the fourth round of the Miami Open. Before arriving in the Spanish capital, the Russian ace lost to eventual champion Elena Rybakina in the Stuttgart Open.

Marta Kostyuk has already played two finals. She started her campaign for the 2026 season at the Brisbane International and reached the final, only to lose to Aryna Sabalenka. Kostyuk then failed to battle past Elsa Jacquemot in the first round of the Australian Open.

Eventual runner-up Rybakina downed her in the third rounds of the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open. But Kostyuk ended her title drought by going past Veronika Podrez in an all-Ukrainian Open de Rouen final.

Mirra Andreeva vs. Marta Kostyuk: Match Prediction

Andreeva is the first teenager to reach three WTA 1000 finals. Last year, she won back-to-back titles in this category, defeating Clara Tauson in the Dubai Tennis Championships and Sabalenka in the Indian Wells Open.

Before this season, Andreeva produced her best performance in Madrid when she reached the quarterfinals in the previous two seasons, losing to eventual runner-up Sabalenka in 2024 and to eventual runner-up Coco Gauff in 2025.

Kostyuk, on the other hand, reached just one semifinal in a WTA 1000 event before this season (2024 Indian Wells). Like Andreeva, Kostyuk’s best performance in Madrid before this season was her quarterfinal run last year, where eventual champion Sabalenka knocked her out.

Kostyuk has so far clinched one clay-court title, the Open de Rouen this year, which was also her career’s second singles title. Andreeva is the winner of two clay-court titles (the 2024 Iasi Open and this year’s Linz Open). Kostyuk has yet to win a Big Title in her career.

Andreeva, win or lose, will be the World No. 7 player on Monday. Kostyuk will occupy a career-best 15th spot in the rankings table. She had achieved her career-best ranking of No.16 back in 2024.

Andreeva will be facing the Ukrainian ace for the second time in her career. They met for the first time in the quarterfinals of this year’s Brisbane International, where Kostyuk won in straight sets.

Match prediction: Mirra Andreeva to win in three sets.
