The 2024 NASCAR Cup playoff will ick off with the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The race will see the last-16 drivers going all out for the championship, alongside the rest of the grid. But there are some big names missing in the line-up. RCR’s Kyle Busch, Trackhosue Racing’s Ross Chastain and 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace are the most prominent figures.

Richard Childress Racing veteran Kyle Busch not securing enough points or a win to win a last-16 berth hurts the fans a lot. The two times champions’ progress was hindered by the poor race cars he got and some bad luck. 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick via his podcast shared his verdict on the No:8 Chevy not being in the chase.

He admitted that it is unfortunate that the Chevy veteran failed to make it into the post-season as he was a driver who was capable of making a lot of noise. The driver who went over him due to their wild card race wins will easily get eliminated on the first-round constituting to more disappointment for the fans. Harvick also admitted that he is really surprised Busch didn’t win at Darlington to progress despite having tier advantage.

I think it’s unfortunate that we don’t get to see Kyle make his way through the playoffs because I really do feel like he could make some noise and I feel like there’s a couple of guys who aren’t going to make much noise and get eliminated, but that’s part of it. But I was surprised he didn’t get to him because of the tires.
Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

Kevin Harvick appreciated RCR for the bounce back late in the regular season

At the start of the season, RCR was one of the worst top teams as they couldn’t even consistently finish inside the top-15. But they made a huge comeback in the last 6 races, with Busch being in contention for wins in multiple occasions, and Austin Dillon winning a controversial race at Richmond. Kevin Harvick is impressed by the progress of RCR.

When you look at Kyle Busch, kudos to RCR for what they’ve done since the Olympic break. The cars were not very good for the most part the first 26 weeks or first 20-whatever weeks. But since that Olympic break whatever they have done since that break, both of those cars of Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch have been capable of running up front and leading laps.
Kevin Harvick said.

The late resurgence gives RCR hope for the next 10 races as well as the 2025 season. They have to use the momentum to their advantage, secure as many front row finishes as possible and place them in a better position going into the 2025 season.
